“The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.”
–Dick the Butcher, William Shakespeare, Henry VI, Part 2, Act IV, Scene 2

Ron Rellick agrees.

Simple and sweet. We all know how lots of people hate lawyers, especially if they have ever been sued. Dr. Ron Rellick loses everything, including his sanity, to a malpractice claim and goes homicidal.

The title has a dual meaning… The legal system is strangling America, and now a serial killer is strangling the legal system.

Get inside the mind of a good man turned violent. See how the evil of corrupt lawyers leads to unforgiving vengeance. Dr. Rellick becomes the hunter to avenge what he sees as the scales of justice fractured and out of balance.

The Big Thrill caught up with author Robert M. Fleisher to see if we could get inside the head of the man who created THE AMERICAN STRANGLER:

What do you hope readers will take away from this book?

Robert M. Fleisher

Having been involved in healthcare and realizing the potential consequences of malpractice suits, it’s my hope that people will understand why there is a need for tort reform. While there is most certainly a need for recompense when a doctor commits malpractice, the system allows for too much corruption and hurts too many patients and doctors in the process.

What attracts you to this book’s genre?

The psychology of good people turned criminal is fascinating to me. It takes a great deal for one to cross the line and probably is a manifestation of insanity. Delving into the motivations and manner in which people carry out their deeds is what attracts me to the thriller genre.

Was there anything new you discovered, or that surprised you, as you wrote this book?

I learned much about courtroom proceedings. I find it interesting how lawyers can take completely opposed sides and still make a case, albeit not always a winning case.
