When you first created your protagonist for this book, did you see an empty space in crime lit that you wanted to fill? What can you share about the inspiration for that character?

The inspiration for my heroine protagonist was every strong, capable, and astute female l have known in my life — especially those with careers in law enforcement, while having wonderful lives away from the job as well.

Can you pinpoint a moment or incident that sparked the idea for this book?

Discovering the many real life cold cases that have come to light in recent years, captured my imagination in wanting to write about in a fictional setting.

A novel is such a major undertaking; there’s the writing of it, of course, then you’re spending months and months revising, polishing, and then promoting it. How did you know this was the book you wanted to spend the next couple of years on?

This book was a great fit, in its subject matter, to the overall six-book miniseries, The Lynleys of Law Enforcement.

In addition to a great read, what do you hope readers will take away from this story?

That cold cases, no matter how far back they go, can still be solved with determination, advances in modern day investigative work, tracking down any and every lead, and a bit of luck.

What can you share about what you’re working on next?

Campus Killer (The Lynleys of Law Enforcement, Book 5).

The stakes of this case were intense.
The attraction…red-hot.

Deep into the investigation of a serial killer at her small town’s university, Detective Paula Lynley can’t refuse the help of a renowned profiler. Special Agent Neil Ramirez’s expertise could help catch the Campus Killer before another woman falls victim. Though Neil is deeply talented and easy on the eyes, Paula senses the profiler has his own dark secrets. Getting close to Neil might be good for the case, but what will it do to her heart?
