An Amber Alert meant to rescue a child puts two lives in danger, forcing Madison and Jonas into a race to find a woman who wants to stay hidden, a baby who needs to be found, and a murderer they’ve been tracking for years.

Lisa Harris recently spent some time with The Big Thrill discussing her latest Romantic Suspense, THE CATCH:

How does this book make a contribution to the genre?

While there are hundreds of thriller novels filled with FBI agents, cops, and detectives, I decided to use US Marshals as my main characters, an arm of law enforcement I knew little about. What I discovered was fascinating to me, and I hope my readers will feel the same way. The US Marshals Service was the first federal law enforcement agency in the US and have served our country for over 200 years in a variety of essential duties.

Was there anything new you discovered, or that surprised you, as you wrote this book?

I grew up in the PNW and love the mountains and the rocky beaches but was surprised as I did research on my setting of how many places I still need to visit in Washington. The Olympic Peninsula, for example, has the only temperate rainforest in the US, plus mountain peaks and rugged shorelines. A definite bucket list place for me!

What attracts you to this book’s genre?

I love a fast-paced suspense novel that is full of twists and turns, which is exactly what I strive to give my readers. It’s not easy to keep the suspense scenarios fresh, but I love the challenge and the possibilities. I also love the thread of romance woven through the stories.

Which took shape first: plot, character, or setting?

Because this was the third book in a series, the setting was already established. As someone who grew up in the Pacific Northwest, I loved the opportunity to explore the region in a novel. The landscape and terrain were also the perfect addition to my plot as my US Marshal go after their fugitive.
