The homeless camps in the city are burning and Detective Emily Hunter soon finds that even the homeless have something that somebody wants. The attacks only begin to draw attention when two of the victims are identified as the city’s former anti-homeless mayor and a camp social worker. Who stands to gain? A most unusual suspect surfaces and Emily is struggling to balance her demanding job as a detective with caring for her Alzheimer’s stricken mother.
