A lower middle-class couple, a mailman and a housewife, living in the suburbs suddenly find themselves caught up in the middle of a Mexican Cartel drug war. In Book III, the Jones’ up their game in the drug trade by creating a product so popular that even their sworn cartel enemies want in on the action.

Award-winning author Vincent Zandri recently sat down with The Big Thrill to discuss his latest contemporary thriller, AMERICAN CRIME STORY: Book III.

Can you pinpoint a moment or incident that sparked the idea for this book?

I fell in love with programs like Ozark and Breaking Bad and realized I wanted to write a series of books about normal people being thrust into abnormal if not lethal situations.

When you first created your protagonist for this book, did you see an empty space in crime lit that you wanted to fill? What can you share about the inspiration for that character?

I’m not sure there are any spaces left. You write what you want to write and what entertains you and keeps you going as a full-time writer. If you’re having fun, my guess is the reader will too.

What can you share about what you’re working on next?

I have over 30 novels and novellas coming out in 2024 alone. The question is, what aren’t I working on next?
