As they follow a decade-long trail of betrayal and murder, Phillipa must put aside her heartache to uncover the truth…about the victim’s past and their own.

“Wow. She did it again. This was such a great story, from the flow to the suspense to the shock that I did not see coming by the time I got to the end of the story. I was totally flabbergasted. I loved this story, and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.” — S. Harper

“Jacquelin Thomas outdid herself on this book. Evidence Uncovered is a slam dunk. As a lover of mysteries and detective stories, I was caught up from the very beginning as the story unfolded. Jacquelin, took us to the streets of New Orleans and the murders of several women with a linkage to murders 20 years prior with almost the same MO. I loved the way the author peeled back the layers of evidence in the search for the truth, frustrating those who had a difficult time solving the case. I also loved that a woman’s instinct and tenacity to get at the truth was highlighted. So happy that love found its way to the two people who deserved it most. Great book; great read.” — S. Perkins

Jacquelin Thomas recently spent some time with The Big Thrill discussing her latest thriller, COLD CASE DECEIT.

Can you pinpoint a moment or incident that sparked the idea for this book?

I was actually at a local park sitting in a gazebo when the idea for COLD CASE DECEIT was born. As I worked on the initial outline–I realized that this was about a woman trying to run away from her past–the story just grew from there.

A novel is such a major undertaking; there’s the writing of it, of course, then you’re spending months and months revising, polishing, and then promoting it. How did you know this was the book you wanted to spend the next couple of years on?

I wrote this book in six months. It is still a major undertaking as there was mountains of research on solving cold cases. I also conducted a lot of research on police procedural. I believed in the story and so did my publishers–we are all very excited about this book.

When you first created your protagonist for this book, did you see an empty space in crime lit that you wanted to fill? What can you share about the inspiration for that character?

My protagonist is a woman who truly cares about the victims of unsolved cases. It is her passion to bring justice to them and their families. However, she has to find closure to the pain of the past when she comes face to face with her ex-fiance who broke her heart.

What can you share about what you’re working on next?

I’ve recently finished a book about a killer targeting the family members of a serial killer. This story is scheduled to be released 12/2023. I’m really excited about this one because I have read nothing like it–which is why I was inspired to write the story.
