Travel to Mars is becoming a reality! But there are dangerous alien creatures who will kill us if we try!

When Casey Smith wakes up from the dead, he finds himself aboard a spacecraft that’s bound for Mars. This new metaverse play has him cast in the role of the security officer. Soon he finds himself battling an evil force that’s a cross between The Thing and the Alien. A nail biter of a serial thriller by New York Times bestselling Thriller Award winner, Vincent Zandri.

“Sensational . . . masterful . . . brilliant.” — New York Post

“(A) chilling tale of obsessive love from Thriller Award–winner Zandri (Moonlight Weeps) . . . Riveting.” — Publishers Weekly

“. . . Oh, what a story it is . . . Riveting . . . A terrific old school thriller.” — Booklist “Starred Review”

Vincent Zandri recently spent some time with The Big Thrill discussing his latest thriller, META MAN: MARS 900C.

Which took shape first: plot, character, or setting?

The character. Writer turned bank robber turned killer, Casey Smith was killed in the 2050s but now survives in the metaverse, which acts as a kind of time travel portal for him. He can be in the Old West in one life and in the next be on his way to Mars. He wonders if it’s possible to actually die in the metaverse.

What attracts you to this book’s genre?

I’m fascinated by the metaverse and all it will offer one day, like having a real conversation with Jesus Christ.

What was the biggest challenge this book presented? What about the biggest opportunity?

I’m not a sci-fi writer per se, but I understand action/adventure very well. So after a little research into space ships and propulsion systems, I was able to get the hang of it. Now I know that I’m capable of writing sci-fi. Who knew?
