No support. No weapons. No prior intelligence.

A deadly mission where no one is expected to survive!

Inspired by a real event.

After their previous experience with British Intelligence, the CACS kidnap recovery team swore they would never do another job for MI6. Now they are requested by the MI6 Chief to rescue someone else. Again, the assignment is not as it appears.

A man will die within a week unless CACS takes on the task.

As details emerge, it is clear this is a suicide mission and to succeed, they will need an alliance with the devil himself.

The Big Thrill caught up to award-winning author Eric J. Gates to gain some insight into book two of the Shadows series, CHASING SHADOWS:

No spoilers, but what can you tell us about your book that we won’t find in the jacket copy or the PR material?

This story is inspired by a real incident related to the author by some of the people directly involved. To be able to tell it within the pages of CHASING SHADOWS, names, locations, and event details have all been altered.

What attracts you to this book’s genre?

The spy thriller has always been a personal favorite and, although technology has had a major impact on how intelligence agencies operate, the human elements are still intriguing and provide complex storylines that entertain.

What do you hope readers will take away from this book?

Readers of the Shadows series will be allowed a peek at how intelligence services use third-party entities, not always willingly nor truthfully. CHASING SHADOWS takes readers through a difficult mission where almost everything that could go wrong does.

Above all, the Shadows series is meant to entertain the reader with espionage tales set in the present day.
